Nalla Karam, meaning "black chili" or "good/tasty spicy powder" in Telugu, is a traditional and highly popular dry chutney powder or spice blend from the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in South India. It's renowned for its fiery flavor, earthy aroma, and slightly coarse texture, distinguishing it from other spice powders. The name "Nalla" referring to "black" comes from the use of black gram (udad dal with skin), which imparts a dark color to the powder upon roasting.
